Psoriasis is a challenge to medical community. It is a disease where skin formation becomes fast and scales start appearing on skin.
Normal skin cycle takes 24 days for new skin to form but some defects in our immunity triggers this cell division and skin formation starts in 4 days It is considered difficult to manage disease in modern science.
A very detailed description is available in Ayurvedic Texts about this disease. This disease is described as Eka Kushta in Ayurveda, where fish like scales appear on the skin. Ayurvedic theory agrees with modern theory of autoimmune origin, stress and effects of climatic changes on Psoriasi but in Ayurvedic texts we also see a very detailed reasoning with regard to Triggers of Psoriasis.
The main triggers of skin disease according to ayurveda are, Using of opposite quality of foods at the same time, That is using Yogurt with Milk or Fish with Milk, ACHAR (Pickle) with Milk or Honey with Ghee (Butter). These are opposite foods and if taken together, they produce slow poisons in our body.
I have seen people taking fish preparations and cheese preparations along with alcohol, this is a deadly combination and can easily lead to skin diseases because fish and milk products like cheese are contraindicated.
In my clinical practice I have noticed that three pillars which support our body system are:
A person who is taking proper food, having good sleep at night and indulging in good sex practices is less likely to be affected by Psoriasis, even though he might be having a family history of Psoriasis.
It is a very simple theory, If a person is bitten by a poisonous insect, itching and rashes appear on the entire body. Our natural body system is throwing out that poison of insect out of our body through our skin. Similarly the slow poisons produced by above mentioned deeds are also thrown out through the skin and this takes the form what we call PSORIASIS.
